VEDEN TAJU / SENSING WATER

The gallery is transformed into a forest lake, in which Ulla-Maija Alanen’s underwater plants surround imaginative plankton sculptures created by children and installed in the middle of the space.
The space is given an aural dimension by a multi-channel soundscape composed by Maija Ruuskanen, featuring underwater sounds of the Baltic Sea.
In the works of artist Ulla-Maija Alanen, art and natural science go hand in hand, with art serving as a window into environmental questions. Alanen’s art is in dialogue with the art created by children.
The work is part of the Helsinki Biennial Inspired series.
